One may wonder what is there to celebrate a day, which in most places is a daily fact of life. Many places and many cultures still have males dictating the roles of females , many times to a brutally suppressive and stifling extent.
However, this year, I don’t feel much so negative about men. Probably because i have made many fantastic friends on social media (some whom i have met in real) with whom i have had exchanges and discussions and could share many ideas. This has lead me to change some misconceptions of mine. Also discovered that guys can be great buddies, good to unburden to, sensitive (when in good mood) and great pals and can be silly
Also, it has led me to realise that some things are common to all ‘mankind’ and can’t be changed without introspection by themselves. Just as some traits are intrinsically feminine and hence may be difficult to be changed. What is needed is greater cooperation and understanding and some give and take.
Besides all this, I know many guys who are wonderful fathers, hubbies, brothers, grandpas, uncles etc etc. So it is not as black as it seems and I am sure there are millions out there like that. I have also had wonderful classmates, teachers, and colleagues of the male gender who were more kind and sensitive then some females i know. Yes there are the jerks, the villains but that does not take away from the good points of the good ones.
Of course a great deal in a great part of the world needs to be changed and that has to do with breaking down time told ancient and redundant cultural practices and mindset change. And to be fair, many females also are involved in maintaining such practices.
While that will take time and effort , Happy IM Day to all the loveable and human guys who make the world a different place to live in!
